Thanks fopeano, I will look into that gun when I’m ready for an air impact. I’m alittle confused though. It sounds like your talking about 3/8 but the gun is 1/2.
That’s cool that you guys like IR tools cuz that’s the brand I was looking into already.

nice tool man! I want one but its to pricey for me right now. I bought the 1/2 18v dewalt and it works pretty well. but you can tell when it has a bit of a struggle.

I am 30 and after working in a retail enviroment for 9 years i have decided to have a career change. Because my dad is a mechanic i have been around this stuff since i was young. I too like working on cars and have a pretty good knowledge for the basic. I decided im gonna be a mechanic and have started the mechanic program at a local college. I think it is better to go to school and learn from people who want to pass their knowledge over. Its s possible to be a good mechanic from on the job training but i dont think youll gain as much trick and tricks and specific details on how stuff works like DonPedro said. With that it would be better to go to school.
. I do repairs for friends and neighbors all the time. I find the rates that some shops charge are outrageous. The only time I would go to a shop is it is to the dealership for warranty work. I can see the reasons why shops charge more (insurance + labor) but imo it isnt worth it for me as I can do all the work I need to my car or my friends’ cars.
I agree with you slow182. most maintenance stuff is easy and can be done from home and the shops charge alot in labor. Not only does it save me money doing it my self i also know its done right. Cant pass up the option to have them do warranty work though. 😛 . As with most that have commented on this post i dont see or know many people doing their own work. Some people i know actually will pay a shop to just have the light bulb or oil changed. Because of people like this i think their ill always be work for technicians.
