This axle is not bolted in.

So, reinsertion of the axle should be performed as you did in your video; using a drilling hammer is overkill? (as he did in his video)

Are the cam gears usually keyed to the camshaft? So, even if the camshaft moves when removing the gears, and you start with the engine at TDC at number 1 cylinder, can’t you just realign it?
