I thought I would update this thread with the final outcome…….it was the battery. When I tested the voltage, it appeared to be in the normal range, but changing the battery solved this problem.
I posed the extra weight question to Tire Rack and received the following reply:
Hi,
Adding additional weight in the back will upset the weight balance of the car and reduce stopping power so we wouldn’t recommend it.

The shop mounted the new tires on the rims and did not tell me about the bent rims until AFTER the tires were mounted. That is when I called another shop and they told me to wait and see if I developed any vibrations with the NEW tires on my rims. If not, then I did not need to do anything further with my wheels, otherwise I should have the rims repaired. I NEVER felt any vibrations…only a VERY slow leak from one of my tires. Presently I am monitoring my tire pressures and will repair the rim IF I notice a leak. Is this the correct approach to this problem?

The only symptom I was having was a VERY slow loss of air in my right rear tire. I have felt NO vibration. And I was told by the first shop about the bent rims only after they had replaced my tires with new ones. Not sure what I need to do next? Have them repaired or wait for a vibration or air loss before I repair the rims?

Do all TPMS sensors usually fail at about the same time? Does it make sense to have all 4 sensors replaced at once?
