My friend had that problem I think he said his cat was clogged instead of buying a new one he just took it out and cleared it out and it sounded it fine. That could not be your problem but I figured I let you know. Well good luck on that! 🙂
Whenever I replace a valve cover gasket I put on the gasket and I put the high temp silicone.
It’s a 1998 Honda Civic Lx 1.6 motor is a D16Y7. But I replaced the coil and it started right up and runs fine, but i hear like a tapping noise when I let off the gas but goes away when I press the gas. The trans has a phantom lock LSD in it and I asked my friend who I got the trans from and he said he also removed a shim or something so the trans turns easier so I was wondering if that could make the trans make that noise. Figured I would get a second opinion being that I paid $300.00 for it. Also, the exhaust sounds deeper than it did before the trans swap not sure if that is normal or not. Other than the noise the car runs and operates fine.
well the axle is loose after we put it in there is a little play left in it
no i didnt take out the axles when doing the upgrades. i changed the axle because the boot was damaged and there was a lot of dirt and rocks in it. Knocking it coming from inside the trans.
i replaced the axle today and the sound is still there. I jacked it up and put it on jack stands put it in first and press the gas and the sound is coming from inside the trans. any thoughts? do i need a new trans?
ok thanks ill replace the axle and see if thats the problem. I was wondering if it wasnt popped all the way in could that be the reason beacuse it got popped out when i was replacing the struts so i just popped it back in, maybe its making that sound because i didnt pop it all the way in?
If it was me id go to some car audio specialist and have them make a spec box for optimal sound quality unless you don’t really care and are just looking for some sound upgrades in which case I would just buy an already made ported box. 🙂
i did check the boot and the one closest to the transmission has a rip, but ive asked a few people and they said it wouldnt make that noise
