Do you hear this while you are driving? Turning, any of that? if you hear “poping” when your driving or turning then i would suspect the cv joint being bad, but just by the looks of this it looks pretty normal! if your car is jacked up on both sides perform the same on the other side, just looks like your car is in gear and your hearing the free play… example…when you are parked on a hill and you put the car into park, and release the brake it rocks a bit until it catches.

I would try to hard wire a light to the plug, and see if it lights up once you hit vtec range…maybe a fuse, something in that nature

I had the same problem with a car that i was working on a while back!! U took a 3 inch extention and welded it solid to the lock nut, and used a ratchet, and a breaker bar to pull it off.

Personally i dont think you are getting enough power to the starter to compensate for the compression of the motor! Check the timing belt like they said, and if thats still in tact, then check your the power that you are getting to the starter! Ill attatch link

Just go to the hardware store!! They can match specs, and more then likely have it in stock, or can get one for you!

You seem to be going about this the rite way! Just dont have the room under the car to get the leverage that you need. If you take the oil, etc to the shop they should use yours and charge you less! At this point use the force needed to get that bolt out! They are tough, and as long as the socket fits like you say, you should have no worries of stripping it out! If you can get a boxed end wrench over the end of the handle of the ratchet you will have much more leverage!

Im with eric, I believe its just worn out! When you get that much more compression from dry to wet, its bc the oil is making the seal that the worn out rings, and cylenders cant make on their own.
