Welcome!!! This is a great place to be.
The starter should have a part number on it. Pull it, take it to your local parts store and if they are any good, they should be able to cross the original part number to something they should have in stock. Besides, you’re going to need to return the old part for your core anyway.

I’d start with a repair manual. If this is your first repair, reading about how to do it step by step woukd be the way to go
Much rather ride a Trek or Cannondale than even sit in a Prius.
Andrewbutton442, IMO having 30 grand in tools doesn’t make you a good mechanic, experience does. Very few mechanics in my area actually work for a dealer and do metric tons more work than the dealership. I’ve seen first hand how the independent guys will work on everything that comes in while the dealership guys have trouble not breaking wheel studs and cross threading lugnuts.
If you’re that concerned about where you’ll be placed by your school, it’s time for you to do some homework. Go visit the dealerships in your area, talk to the tech that’s been there the longest and also the new guy. See what they like about the place and what they don’t. Ask about management, a good paying job with a sucky supervisor is a sucky job. Watch the techs and see how they operate. If they have their stuff together great, if they’re like the Three Stooges on crack, move on.
But that’s just my opinion.
My question to all of you that will buy tools only made in the USA is, does that only go for your tools but the other things you use as well?
In my opinion, and thats the only one that matters, last nights q&a was excellent. I enjoyed how you jumped around to get a variety of questions/problems.
Mine don’t. But with the weight of a vehicle pushing down on the stands, the pin isn’t going to fall out without some major effort.
I have a few sets of these and they work great for automotive work. Only downside is you’re limited in the 3 positions for height adjustment.
