I never thought about actual interviews . That would be different . In the short term my thoughts were we , the other techs in the field could submit say a tool we have purchased which really proves to be useful . Or a tech tip like a short cut we found to doing water pumps on trailblazers as some examples .

Strength comes in numbers . Myself it has been over 30 years and some tools have been a total waste while others have been lifesavers . Back in the day you had to buy it to try it . Online reviews help me make some choices as what to buy if an actual tech has a positive or negitive thought I want to know .Some short cuts were learned the hard way or the seasoned tech would pass the “trick” to the younger generation . So the vast knowledge could be passed through this venue . We are all never to old to learn . TTYL .
Sounds like the OP has already made up his mind on getting a box. I have a SnapOn Masters KRL722 love that box plenty of room to grow your tool collection. Don’t have any experience with Mac tool boxes as nobody in my dealership has one its either SnapOn or Matco. I would stay away from Matco lots of owners complaining about rust, have a tech at work fighting with Matco to get his box fixed or replaced its less than five years old and its has rust all over the inside.
Wow . Rust issues ? I have a Matco and the only place I have had issues is with the flat black painted covers on the casters . Granted the box is 15 years old . Guess they are not doing the prep on the paintwork ? This is my first Matco unit .

I have never purchased a new box . I have always gone the used route . On the last one I was crammed full. Two bottom cabinets and one top . Tool truck rolled in and had a trade in . Made the deal on a well cared for unit . Traded my old boxes for more than what I should have received and got the box for a third of retail . As stated before . Get a roll cart . Oh and one other thing …….keep the extra junk out of your box . The infamous nut and bolt drawer(s) where tools can be stored instead of clutter .

What I was suggesting was those of us out here give you feedback on what we use in our daily battle to keep America rolling . Then of course you would pick and choose what to feature if something is of interest .

I hate to say it but I tend to agree with you for the most part . Here is my take …… Would I buy all Snap on ? Yes . Is it reasonable ? No . Same socket set I bought 25 plus years ago for XX.XX now goes for a figure I would not even consider . Also the replacements do not last as long either .Everyone has cut corners . I have been buying from our Mac dealer for over 20 years and yes some of the tools are just relabeled . But his service has been hard to beat . Out of the 4 tool companies he has been the only long time dealer . Granted I have been buying Gearwrench and Dewalt items as of late . So depending on tool needs you could order from Snap On direct online . Only thing is you will have to pay up front or use a charge card . I myself am needing to get some Cornwell stuff replaced and have no dealer so I feel your pain .

Not to be negative but I would strongly suggest that this is not the best for both parties . I did some major work for a “friend” who has a fleet of 6 vehicles in the family . Did my part right and when it came time for his part …… I got screwed over . He just fell short of what was expected to the point I had to help him finish the project .IF I do work now it is cash and carry . No more barter . As for the fellow that burned me …… We now keep business as business .

My name is Clayton Koch and I started out pumping gas for Montgomery Wards while still in high school class of `79 . Moved to the back doing tires and the rest I learned all the hard way by using my two hands . Became a battery and charging system guru working for JCPenney auto centers due to the lifetime warranty battery they sold until they closed . Was swallowed up in the Firestone takeover of the JCP auto centers where I really moved forward and became certified in four areas of ASE in 1986 which I still keep up at my expense to this day . Did some time for corporate Goodyear before going to the indy Goodyear owned stores . And for the last ten years I have worked for a “gasp” fast lube in the service department where we do full line repairs to all makes and models . I specialize in front end work but do what is asked of me ……..For the most part .
