FOUND THE ISSUE, the blinker switch had gotten internally hot enough to melt the plastic around a peice of spring steel that was used to make the contacts and lose connection
Thanks for the help though!
~RyanI usually agree here but truck is what they call a “Trailer special”, it’s a factory installed harness, I’ll still check it out though
but why would it leak only when it’s in gear? I’m fairly certain it’s the pan leaking but it could be something else
yes that is an electric fuel pump ziptied with 1 ziptie directly to the frame rail
Attachments:well the truck is home safe and sound, and we drove it all the way home last week, just haven’t posted the video yet, btw it is a turbo 350 and the pan leaks….bad
UPDATE!: I will taking home my new toy on Wednesday, October 28th, We will get her runnin there (on it’s own, without having to trickle gas down the carb constantly) and chug her on home, I will record the trip on a go pro camera for yall to see and I should be posted by Thursday or Friday.
Ill remember that the 350 trans has an upside down Nevada for an oil pan!
this is an all original truck no lift, stock exhaust, everything is from the factory, it has the 2 barrel Rochester carburetor which I prefer over the quadrajet. too. It’s also an A/C truck
I’ll definitely give that a shot, however it seems to be a common issue with these, I know my father’s ’91 F-150 with the same drivetrain as mine did the same exact thing as well, I have also looked online to try to see if there is a common fix for this common issue and came up with nothing. It’s not really an issue as much as an annoyance because it has been happening since I bought the truck 4 years ago and it was happening on my dad’s truck for as long as I can remember. like I said the unit works fine but it just makes noise. any suggestions on the fluid I should use?
I own this motor as well in my ’94 F-150, indestructible to start, second these do make a lot of valvetrain noise when the hammer is dropped, not much can be done about it, If you look at a blueprint of these motors, except for the spark plug holes. these are practically small diesels that run on gas . btw I want to hear that, you better post a video! 😆
thanks eric will do!
Survey says: 40psi while running, however when I shut it off, its about 47, unsure of the specs for this truck but I believe I read somewhere it’s supposed to be around 50-55, but don’t quote me on that
Thanks Eric, I need to go rent/buy some tools, I’ll report my findings to y’all asap
I never even thought out that, my dad might of put some oil in it and that could of happened, I just ran the car for about 30 minutes and nothing happened this time it ran fine with good oil pressure the entire time even after I put it in drive and had the A/C blasting, is there a chance the oil filter could cause issues on this too?
I have actually replaced the fuel filter since the video was made with only a small difference in performance, also that knocking is because the motor mounts (which are only 2 years old) are really flimsy for the giant chuck of cast iron that sits on them. Anyways, I have read in some other places about the IAC on these trucks going out, could this be a possibility on this truck?
