When applying for a new position you ever feel like that homeless guy that hooks up with women to have a place to sleep for the night?

When applying for a new job, service managers do what ever it takes to get you in the door. Promise you to work with you on school, let you tweak your schedule if you have one car and you and your wife works.

Then when ever you get started they basically tell you get f’d. You’re either full time and doing what they need for hit the road.

Is that normal? They get you hooked, then tell you it’s there way or the highway.

I want to work with Fopeano at his shop. He feels like my long lost brother. I know I’d love my job then.

My shop will soon need an oil change/tires/shop maintenance person to work indefinitely as an hourly guy. We don’t have anybody lined up now and don’t really know where to look. The boss and I were actually talking earlier tonight about taking a lot car over to the big quick lube place for an oil change and talking to the lube tech during it as like a interview, and possibly offering a job if he seems right.

If you want it you’re a shoe-in, but I don’t know about the commute being reasonable. Don’t think my workplace isn’t retarded either. Just because I don’t bring it up often doesn’t mean it’s not an issue. Like I said though, you’re a shoe-in. One thing they are good about too is allowing a flexible schedule, including a standard weekday off every other week in everyone’s schedule. In all seriousness, you could probably start next week.

If I was in your area I’d be all over that brother.

I had a bad one when I was first starting off. Was working for a GM dealer, in the interview it sounded great. Was going to do the GM training, had a great master tech who worked there and would be able to show me stuff and help out. Start out hourly and when my production got to where it should switch to flat. Sounded fantastic. They stuck me with jobs that were way over my skill level for the time, no techs helped, service writer rode my ass the whole time about being to slow. I was there for maybe 3 months. Finally one day after my service writer chewing my ass again I finished the job I was on, pulled the car out, pulled my truck in and loaded my box up. Service writer came over with this dumb founded look in his and face and said “what are you doing?” Said some lovely words that made me feel better and proceeded on to find a new shop. I remember the first job I had in a shop and the lead tech said, know why there are wheels on a toolbox? So it’s easier to move it to the next shop.
