Hey there, yet another guy from the UK. I’ve seen alot Eric’s videos, they haven’t been any direct help to me yet I’m sure they will be and it’s always interesting to see other people approaches to stuff you have fixed in the past. Including Xbox 360’s.

I’m more of an Electrical/ Electronics/ IT kind of guy, but being skint and handy has it’s benefits because I end up figuring out how to do alot of my own car maintenance ( not alot different from current work and hobbies), and realizing when the cost of tools is too much or the lack of time or expertise I have before I need the car again points me towards my local garage who I have built up a good healthy relationship over time. They got me out of a rough spot twice this month with some horribly located and stuck spark plug HT leads and trying to stop my brakes squeaking which I managed but also managed to cross thread a break caliper sliding pin putting it back together, which is an expensive mistake I won’t be making again.

I have experience working with Diesel, Gasoline/Petrol and a working knowledge of my current ’98 VW mk4 golf and the Autogas/LPG/Propane dual fuel conversion with Prins VSI kit I had done to it when I realized it’ll pay for itself quick enough to go for it. I didn’t DIY this as much as I wanted too. I knew Prins make the best LPG kit and here in the UK Prins only supply it to approved installers. Plus if you don’t get the installation checked by an a UKLPG approved installer here it makes it alot harder to get insurance.

I have got a bunch of niggles which aren’t big stop the car dead ones yet, My ribbed serpentine belt has always been squeaky when the engine is cold, it’s gone back to being squeaky very soon after any attempt I’ve made to shut it up so far. I have a 2 door lock units that are misbehaving, but still lock just fine. I have an AC leak underneath my dash somewhere. Also general covering up rust under the car and stopping it getting worse.

I also have a some great neighbours, one who’s recently retired but worked in a body shop/garage and knows VW’s inside out back to front. Another who loves Landrovers and has done some pretty awesome restoration jobs on what seems like total junk.

I donno If I’m going to be a regular round here, but one this for sure is I seem to be spending more and more time working on my car and helping neighbours and friends out with there’s.
