I have a 2005 VW Touareg V8 4.2L. I have been looking everywhere for the ballast and there are quite a lot of them available. However, they are very exspensive. I found out that the Chevy Camaro has the same exact ballast. It’s a Valeo ballast 12 pin connection. Just like my VW ballast, the Camaro ballast is just as exspensive. So I’m looking for 2, possibly from a junk yard. Funny thing is that out here in NY, no junk yard has this ballast. So if anyone can find this part at a junkyard near you, I’m willing to buy it and have it shipped to me. Please help.

I don’t know if this will help or not, but you can check DDM Tuning

They are normally not to expensive.

Have you checked at an online junk yard website?

Thanks redeemer and johnbkobb. I actually juust went the cheap ebay direction and bought a set on ebay for $25. It comes with the 2 ballast, 2 wiring harness with the socket at the end, and 2 hid bulbs. I just have to order the 2 connectors that I’m going to tap into the headlight power wire that gives the ballast it’s power. I think it will cost about $10 for a total of $35 spent. I’ll also make a video on how I did it. I’ll keep you guys posted. Thanks again.

I wouldn’t buy eBay HIDs. I have them on my car with them. They work, but they aren’t the best money can buy. I should have just spent $10 more and got DDM tuning HID kit.

I’ve actually had a lot of good luck with buying parts for my car on ebay. I also heard the same thing you stated. It’s a hit-or-miss with ebay. So far, I’ve been happy. Recently though, I’ve been finding some similar deals on Amazon. They have waaayyy better shipping than ebay. I ordered a 12 point XZN triple square bit set on Amazon for $25.00 w/free shipping. It was in my mailbox 2 1/2 days later at 11 A.M. The same set sells on ebay for $30 and probably wouldn’t have came as fast. I’ll let you know how these lights come out when I put them in.

I finally got a chance to put the HID’s in, but had a problem with my camera while making the video. So I don’t have a video for this job. I basically spliced in a relay and a 30A fuse into each HID circuit. They work fine and look real good.
