      Hey everyone,

I have USA made Craftsman Professional combo wrenches. I’ve noticed that they are beginning to rust slightly. If I look up close, there are little specks of rust. Is this normal, or should I do something to stop it?

      Thanks,

      Matt

Wipe them down periodically with Rig gun grease.

Thanks for the reply. Will that remove the rust that’s there, or just prevent new rust from forming?

It’s just a preventative. A little scrubbing with 0000# steel wool will take off the surface rust.

I wipe down my tools occasionally with transmission fluid. It keeps the rust away and cleans them up nicely. Also, if your tools are in a basement or garage it might be worth running a dehumidifier to keep the rust away from everything else and keep down mold/mildew. I’ve had the same issue and run the dehumidifier through the summer months. Otherwise you can throw in a few desiccant packets in each tool drawer.
