      Hi all,

I need a set of good jack stands to use on my 2007 Odyssey for doing oil change etc. I’m thinking about buying 4 Ton set from Sears. Below is a link to the Jack stands for 50 bucks.

The curb weight for this model seems to around 4600 lbs. So 4 ton being 8000 lbs is good enough?

Also, I have a 3 ton floor jack for lifting the van onto these new jacks, I’m thinking this will still be good enough.

Based on the reviews that I read about it and looking at it, it seems like it would be good if you bought a set of them.

I have a pair rated at 5.5 tons each and a pair at 6 tons each. This is overkill since I mostly work on cars not dump trucks. However, I like the larger footprint. There’s less chance of these stands tipping over. Also, I’ve noticed there’s only small increases in price as you move to the stands rated for higher loads.

My Ridgeline is about as large and heavy as your Odyssey. And a hassle to jack. I use heavy duty ramps, for same price. 12 000 lbs each. O”Reilly. Rhino ramps.

Those would certainly work. Note that the jack stands are rated EACH, so that is 8000 lbs per stand. They are supposed to be used in pairs, so that would give you 16,000 lbs of support.

I have had two pairs of the 3-ton stands from Harbor Freight for almost 5 years now, and they work great also, and cost a bit less.

I’ve had two pairs of these for almost 15 years and never had any problems with their strength or stability. My summer car is up for the winter on the four of them in my garage right now. When I used to constantly work on cars at home, they were a staple and I’d recommend them to anyone for dealing with normal passenger cars like you.
