      I just did rear drum brakes and the ebrake cable spring was a nightmare to get on and off because it was so tight. Can that spring be loosened by loosening the ebrake cable? Just trying to find a way of making that aspect of the job easier.

        Yes, If you disconnect the cables from inside the car, the cable will pull a lot farther out of the sheath and take some of the pressure off that spring.
