Worn Rod Bearings?

I have a 1995 Integra with a minor oil pressure problem, typically on a hot day when I’ve been driving everywhere. One main symptom to cause this, is on a cold start, the engine revs up to 2500 rpm and creates a sound like someone is rolling there R’s. But then it goes away. I don’t even hear it when I rev up. Even if it occurs for a few seconds, could it still be bad rod bearings? Thanks 🙂

It’s hard to say if it’s a rod bearing problem without tearing the engine apart. That’s truly the only way to know if that’s the case. You could start by checking the oil pressure. That is a good indication of what kind of shape the bearings are in. I’ve also written extensively about diagnosing noises, inducing engine noises. You might check out that information here to see if it helps you solve that issue.

I did an oil pressure test, it’s good for the most part. The oil light would flicker a bit on a hot summer day if i drive around for a while and then it would blink and stay on at times. I’m thinking maybe one hot day I should drive it around until the light comes on and then test the oil pressure.

Also, this is the sound it makes if that helps.
