Thanks for the posting although i feel this would be better suited in the General Automotive discussion C8-)

However the flat rate system has its advantages and disadvantages. I would highly recommend attending some type of college that offers automotive training that is hands on.

I don’t think there is any profession where 95% of the people working there are crooks. You’ve got a skewed view for some reason — maybe time to move? I’ll take the contrary view that the vast majority of those working there are average guys just trying to make a living. Most want to do the job well, though I can see where they will want to be as efficient as possible with the flat rate system.

Being your own boss is great but it presents it’s own set of challenges for instance just last week when I walked into the shop for the second time and the water pipes had burst not only did that directly effect my wallet but it also created a loss of time which in business is a loss of money. Not to mention the camera I broke on the same day. If I were working for someone NP I would just go to them and make it their problem but since it’s my business it’s my problem, in fact when you’re the owner EVERYTHING is your problem. I would think long and hard about that before you strike out on your own.
