83 GMC Sierra Classic. Wipers worked all the way to Walmart, then quit just as I was about to leave.
The Issue: When the switch is on, it acts as though the wiper fluid pump was activated, squirting fluid onto the windshield anytime the wiper was active, and then it would just stop anywhere on the windshield. Every few minutes it would work for a few inches, then stop again, still attempting to pump fluid when the wipers attempt to move.
The Issue is not due to wipers not being connected. They wipers will not move when the switch is off, and you attempt to move either wiper by hand. If allowed to sit in the off position after it reaches the auto stop at the bottom of the stroke, or the engine is off for 5+ minutes, they will work for a short while, this do this again.
There was a new Windshield Wiper Motor, and Wiper Switch replaced just over a month ago. I attempted pulling and reconnecting all the wires connected to the motor, and that solved nothing.
Video showing the issue (The water streams were low, as it had run low on fluid during this ordeal):
