I have a 1997 Honda Accord. I’ve recently put a windshield washer reservoir in my car (didn’t have one before due to a wreck). I’ve connected the lines to the nozzles that are on my hood. Since using it, I’ve noticed every time I use it, after I let go of the switch to spray them, it starts to leak all over my hood. I’ve researched online and found that installing a check valve will do the trick. Any thoughts?

A valve will retrain the exes fluids after the washer pump. Same thing in a powerade bottle.

I have a Caravan and the problem with the windshield washer is that the rear one doesn´t work unless the washer fluid drops almost to the point in that the “Low Washer Fluid” light comes on the dashboard. It used to work just fine and when it went down I disassembled the rear line and blowed into it to see if it was blocked and nothing happened. Last week I was changing the fluid cause it smelled like rotten eggs, and when it was almost out of fluid it began coming out by the back. Refilled the system and once again it didn´t worked…

            For Caravan3.8

You have a defective rear washer fluid pump. Because when you have less fluid in the thanks you have less in your pump too. You need to buy the car manual to locate the rear pump.

before you hooked up the lines to the spray nozzles.
did you purge the lines? you may have washed junk
into the nozzles.as for installing a check valve.
              what would that accomplish.

The windshield washer nozzles spray fine and normal. Its just after I release the trigger, it leaks excess fluid all over the hood.

You might need to inspect the washer switch Itself if the connector are not too dusty. The inspect the connection if all are solder properly. Then if everything are all right and the problem is not solve. You need to change your windshield washer pump. It’s could have fail circuit in It.

The switch is fine because my wipers stop running when I release it. The pump is brand new. I just put it in the other day. It’s almost like the pressure in the line is bleeding out onto my hood.

So, replace the rubber hose to be sure you will have no leak. A rubber hose is just a few dollars (less then 4 us$). Replace if necessary all the clamps on this hose.

There should be a check valve in the system already. It’s normally located in the ‘T’ that splits going to each nozzle I think. It may also be the washer nozzles. If the hood was replaced and new non stock nozzles were used it may have caused that problem. If that’s the case you might switch to OE nozzles and recheck for the problem.
