Windshield chip repair

The wifemobile picked up a stone chip in the windshield. It’s pretty much right in the center and smaller than a dime.

I want to get on this right away before is spreads. has anyone used one of the chip repair kits? I’m thinking about the Permatex one. I want to keep the chip from spreading, it does not need to be show quality.

Just a passing thought here..
Many windshield repair shops will do chip repair.
Not sure what type of warranty they might give.
But might be worth researching the possibility.

I used the Permatex kit back in the 2000s.
The results were excellent and the repair looked just as good 10 years later as they did when it was first done.
The key thing is to follow the directions to the letter.

Thanks, I will give the permatex kit a try.

I checked with windshield shops and the repair was anywhere between $99 and $159. I figure a $15 kit is worth a shot.

Used the kit this weekend, results were really good, I really need to strain to find where the chip was.
The only thing I noticed is that the amount of time needed to remove all the air (when you pull a vacuum with the syringe) was about double what it said in the instructions.
