Window Regulator problem.

I have an 02 dodge dakota and I recently replaced my window motor on the front driver side. (It is a clock spring set up.) Then I started to here a clunking sound as I roll the window up and when I get to the top, I heard a loud bang. Yesterday, I took my window apart to see what the heck was going on. I tightened my window regulator and motor and I still heard the same thing. I greased the window guides and it seemed it was a little better going up and down but it still made that loud bang. I then took out the whole assembly to see what is going on and what I found was, one of the window hold down studs was not all the way at the end of the guide. So, I started to fiddle around with my window assembly and I cannot seem to get the window guide all the way to the end of the hold down.

I need to know before I destroy the whole new assembly. If there are any tricks to getting that aligned.

If you can, take the whole assembly to a reputable auto glass shop. they should be nice enough to tell you what you need to do.

place window glass in betwwen the up and down positions. Verify window glass can be moved slightly side to side, front to rear, and up and down. If window glass does not move freely, check window glass, tracks, and regulator for sticking or binding. Remove door panel. loosen window run channel-to-window regulator arm bolts. raise the window fully, seating it in the frame. tighten window run channel-to-window regulator arm bolts. install door panel. Recheck system operation.

          hope that helps
