          Short and sweet version.

Car started rattling and banging last year, intermittently. Now car rattles like crazy. Sound has been been narrowed down to pulleys. Noticed a couple months ago the PS pulley wobbles fore to aft (parallel to front of engine). Attempted to replace pulley, found out Alternator, Water pump and Idler pulley must come out, which means I need dex cool and PS fluid. Pulley while on shaft will move back and forth 1/8 inch or so and knocks when it can’t be moved anymore. (some websites say this is normal, my genius teacher says not normal). Couple of weeks ago I noticed burnt rubber smell after vehicle had been driven for a while (can’t get it to do so right after taking off) at and above 2500 rpms.

Took it to the dealership under warranty, their report:
Pulley Wobble not normal, but not severe enough to warrant replacement.
Techs claim they hear no rattling, PS shaft has zero play.
Wheel bearing found to have too much play.

Is it the wheel bearing or could the burning smell be due to a bad PS bearing? The smell is identical to burning rubber but the serpentine belt shows no signs of heavy wear.

If anyone wants to buy an 09 Lacrosse for 10.5k message me. Had one problem followed shortly by another since I got it….
