1997 acura CL 3.0 I have no history on the car.
So my temp gauge goes up about 1/3 of the way. The car heater works but not amazing. No cooling system problems.
There are two different thermostats available. a 170 and a 180. I am gonna assume for now that it has a 170 in there.
I know other engines (like the 3800 series II) have more than one available as well. Having the “bigger” one in there during hot weather caused slight running problems like the car would shutter on a quick take-off (as I experienced with my 99 lesabre)So for the 3.0 honda engine, is there a reason for two different ones? Was that to “rig” some problem being caused by the 180? 10 degrees doesn’t sound like much but I imagine it would make a noticeable difference in how the heater works.
So, what is the best route here? If I go with a 180 so the heater will work better, is that going to cause the engine to act stupid? Not really wanting to “just try it” until I have a bit more knowledge as to WHY they had two different ones available.
Thank you
