While I buy OEM for my Mustang, I buy for the 2000 Ford Ranger XLT the brand that I know manufactures the OEM maintenance, like Purolator makes the Oil Filter, Autolite makes their Spark Plugs, etc.

I’d like to know the maker of the Motorcraft Motor Oil, I can’t seem to find the information anywhere. Another reason is, I have some leaks around the left valve cover and don’t want to use a Synthetic, which Motorcraft Oil is now. Any help I would appreciate. Thank you

Arnold Oil Company per their website is the OE supplier.

It is difficult to find information on the manufacturer of Motorcraft oil filters; it seems the belief is Purolator is the OE supplier.

When I owned a S197 V6 I ran Pennzoil conventional motor oil, 4 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil, and Fram oil filters. My valve covers also leaked, but an occasional torque of the bolts to specification seemed to slow down the flow. One other problem I had with the 4.0L engine is the thermostat housing cracking creating a slow leak.

Also, if anyone is interested in the dexos oil brands and suppliers – http://www.centerforqa.com/dexos-brand1/

Thanks for the help. Yeah I had been told a while back Purolator does the Oil Filters and Air Filters for Ford. That’s a good idea about re-torqueing the valve cover bolts, appreciate it
