So I have two used cars, and have been rotating between them, but I need to come to a conclusion and just get sell one of them off. I’ll go through both. Any repairs mentioned as needed I will probably just get parts and do myself.
92 – Celica GT Convertible 5 speed – 192,000 miles May need a new clutch soon, it is starting to slip under hard acceleration. Burns off a little oil on startup, should need new valve seals. Will probably need a new timing belt. recently replaced front wheel bearings and axles. Exceedingly fun to drive, a little impractical for commuting through northern virginia traffic
02 Accord Sedan Automatic 250,000 Miles May need new steering rack and power steering pump, there is a leak someone, have yet to find it’s source. sometimes the started doesn’t engage, the relay clicks but nothing happens, probably needs a new starter. new transmission at around 220,000 miles. Just replaced the timing belt/water pump last year, also replaced a catalytic converter. Boring drive, but a little more practical.
I can see the positives and negatives of both cars but I can’t make a decision. So I’m looking for advice as to what to do. Thanks!

I’d stick with the Honda over the Toyota. Especially since you live in Northern Virginia. You live near the DC area or something? Cause while stick is fun to drive its not fun to be constantly shifting in stop and go traffic. Also Convertibles in winter ain’t fun either.

In my opinion you got a few options.

        1. Keeping the celica and sell the honda
        2. Keep the Honda and sell the Celcia.
        3. Sell both cars and get a newer or better shape one.
        4. Sell either car and use that money to fix whatever you choose to keep.

You have a car with a 25 year old convertible top. That’s what sticks out to me, an expensive failure point. How often you operate and how well you take care of your convertible top was not specified, but matters in this discussion. I can understand how the Celica would be more fun to drive, but I have to say from experience that a 6th Gen Accord auto can also fun. I am a very spirited driver, and I’m happy daily driving mine the last few years. Aside from keeping a 200k car tight, I’ve also done a lot of tranny work on it as well and it’s really a good car. Because the transmission on the Honda is more like a conventional constant mesh stick shift than a conventional automatic, it can be driven in a spirited manor if you know how to use it.

Sounds like you enjoy the Celica more so keep that one. Plus the value will appreciate more than the Honda over time because its a stick and its a Celica. The Honda will sell faster and for more money than the Celica right now.
