My IACV is going bad on my 94 Accord EX. I have taken it off, replaced the o-rings with Honda ones, and cleaned it with carb clean spraying the screen and valve sides. Looking into buying a new one and they are so ridiculously spendy. I actually payed less for my Mishimoto radiator and hoses then I would for a new FITV. Any suggestions? Knew this would be the place to ask. Thanks!

Think they would be any good? Obviously anything is better than sounding like a boner at a stop sign because my car won’t idle…

Is it the IAC or the FITV you need? Try and google your part.

I meant to say IACV, I actually don’t even have a FITV. lol
January 27, 2013 at 4:59 am #494882Whenever I have some trouble with them, I like to remove them and leave it sitting with some penetrating oil in it for a little while, then dry it and refit to see if it helped. Sometimes they benefit from a few light taps with a soft hammer or something similar to help unstick them.

Ok I’ll try that, really I’m up for anything considering I will most likely have to replace it.
January 27, 2013 at 9:59 am #494907Ok well I cleaned it with PB blaster, let it soak once for about 10 minutes and then once again for about an hour. The second time a LOT of gunk came out, make my washtub basically dark brown. Sadly this didn’t even work. I’m honestly starting to think its either the brake booster line or the PCV. I have only one vacuum tube which is for the reg. so I don’t think its that.. Hmmmmmmm :S

Yes, if you can’t find it anywhere else reasonably, try this. Reputable yards usually have a good return policy.
January 31, 2013 at 1:41 am #495954I still didn’t see where you listed the symptoms. Perhaps I missed it. The IAC’s on those weren’t known for problems. I’d clean the screens out during a service but that was mostly all they ever needed. That being said a salvage part should work fine. Now, the real issue is are you correct in your diagnosis. These articles may help you with that.

I have a purging idle, I never had any issues until I did my 5spd conversion. I also have all of the vacuum lines removed (due to removed components) minus my FPR, this is my track/daily so I like to keep it simple. I don’t have a FITV, hence it being blocked off so that isn’t a possibility. Considering I’ve cleaned the IACV twice now I am starting to think it may be a PCV, PCV hose, or the brake booster/check valve that could be letting some air in. The PCV itself rattles fine, and I’ve cleaned as well, I also have the correct size plugs blocking all of my vacuum ports. I would like to replace both said hoses with the kind in the image attached, but I can’t seem to find the general name for it.

February 3, 2013 at 7:13 am #497018IACV is 100% shot, off to the junk yard this Monday! Tested it by removing the electrical connector while it was purging.
