hey everyone new to the forum and i have a problem me and my uncle replaced the front passenger wheel bearing hub on a 1999 dodge durango slt 4×4 and it still makes the same noise as it did before!! I have a feeling its the cv joint and i only say that because he(my uncle his truck)had to literally drag the front passenger side tire 20 to 30 feet to the drive way destroying the tire and cv boot in the process!!now this was not intended and yes he new it was bad but he still had to work to get the money to fix said bearing hub!! now we did get the hub from ebay not knowing they might be made cheap until after!! go figure!!but even now after the new part sound did not change!! my thoughts on this(and im only 17 so bear with me)is that if it was at such an angle to rip the cv boot then it might have effected the cv joint itself!! been trying to figure it out myself i love working on vehicles but my knowledge only spans to erics vids and persistence i guess i know more than i give myself credit for!! well better quit talking or ill be here all night!ahah hope yall can help!!

      Thanks!

Honestly it would be better if you started your own thread for this. That way your problem gets attention.

As for your noise it’s not likely to be the CV joint, when those go bad they make a clicking noise during tight turns. As for a roaring noise wheel bearings are one possibility but the most common cause is the tires. You might want to rotate them to see if the noise changes or goes away. If it does then the tires are likely the cause of the issue.

I agree with Eric. I had a car that I thought the wheel bearing was bad on, it was making a growling noise and was more noticeable when turning one direction and would go away when turning the other direction. I thought for sure wheel bearing so took it in under warranty and they said rotors were bad. I replaced rotors and noise was still there. I kept driving it hoping it would get worse so I could tell for sure. Never really got worse. Time came for new tires so we got 4 new tires and noise was gone. Not sure what exactly in the tire causes this?
