Let’s hear it people, dont be ashamed…Is it a car your still own? A car that you wish you still owned?

mine was a 1967 SS396 4-speed Chevelle that i bought in 1986 for $1k….feel like hanging myself for trading it for a brand new set of tires, just because i got tired of putting camshafts in it…..What’s your story…

        Quoted From dreamer2355:

Mine was a 1997 Nissan Altima. I loved that vehicle and thats the one that got me started on my automotive journey. Unfortunately, the engine over heated and the rest is history. And yes, i miss it 🙁 The KA24DE is a very good motor.

And my wife loves your animated avatar pic C8-)

it always seems that first car has a footprint on our lifes… some are fortunate to still own that vehicle, but some gave it up…i still remeber the VIN, odometer, and plate #…

Mine was a 1968 rs camaro. bought it for 800.00 in 1977 my first car during high school ( did I just date myself or what LOL ) was a 4 speed , had an 8 track player and the first owner left 2 8-track tapes in the trunk… FogHat live and Styx-the grand illusion ( two groups I still rock out to ).. man I drove the tires off that ride , rockin and rollin . lots of fun street racing back in the day. traded it for a ’73 chevy luv p/u in 1980… man I still kick myself for doing that. lots of great memories associated with that car.

                  1992 Honda Accord LX.

Nice car – ran very strong even at 150k miles. Eventually got rid of it because it was going to cost way too much to fix it up the way I wanted to. The previous owner(s) had it messed up pretty good. I’ll remember it though – took me through college!

My mom’s ’93 has 170k+ and I took it for a drive today and was going about 30 and floored it, it downshifted about 2 gears and jumped up to 5K on the tach and the front end jumped around from the tires breaking loose from the pavement.

My first car was a 1967 Mercury Cougar, which my parent’s bought for me when I turned 15. The theory was that my father and I would spend a year fixing it up so that when I turned 16 and got my license, I’d have a car to drive that I wouldn’t run into the ground because I had just spent a year repairing it. Well, my 16th came and went that the car needed was too much work. For example, the steering box actually fell off of the car while it was sitting in the garage on jack-stands because the frame simply rotted away around it. I forget what other issues that car had, but I never drove it on the street.

The first car I drove on the street was a 1984 Ford LTD 2. The one that was about the size of a Taurus. That thing was a rust-bucket, but it was a tank of a rust-bucket. I remember hitting a patch of black ice and bouncing it off a guard-rail at about 45 mph. I had to replace the driver-side headlight assembly, and that was it. That car got totalled after I had owned it for about 7 months when some little old lady ran a red light and tore everything in front of the radiator off the car.

1998 Ford Contour SE, I seriously drove its wheels off…. If I said I didnt miss it I’d be lying, It’s engine was still running strong when I parted it. Still have the license Plate, Vin Plate, And other misc pieces on # 3632 in my signature. Not to mention more parts in a box on a book shelf.

Depends on your opinion as far as mine goes. Technically it was a “Banana Yellow” (as I called it) ’79 Ford LTD, however I sold it before I turned 16 and then I got an ’86 Monte Carlo with a 4.3… that was the first car I actually drove on the streets. I still miss that thing.

Mine was a 1979 Chevy Malibu station wagon. It was purchased new in 1978 by my mom and dad. The car went with us from California to Washington, and then around the world to Manila in the Philippines for 2 years and then to Seoul, Korea for 4 years (1982-1988) and then back to Seattle where it (SURPRISE!) became my problem. We moved around a lot because my dad worked for the feds.

Back to the Malibu: it was junk since day one. Nothing ever worked on it. It would vapor lock every time you put the air conditioner on, the steering wheel was always pointed to the right, the shifter never worked properly, etc. etc. Frankly, it was embarrassing to drive around in. On a particularly gloomy day, I went off-roading with it and intentionally rammed it into a fence as an excuse to get rid of it (I told my parents it was too dangerous to drive and it must have been a bad motor mount or something.) I parked it on the side of the road with a sign that said “$250 AS-IS” and within 6 hours, sold it to some kind Mexican folks who were here illegally and bought a television with the proceeds. Years later, I saw the car cruising down the highway with some dingleballs hanging from the top of the windshield and it had been lowered about 3 inches (no joke). I knew it was my car because they never bothered pulling the huge dent out of the chrome rear bumper that happened when we got hit by a Jeepney in Quezon City in the Philippines. It was good to see her in the same sort of way it’s good to see your grandmother’s grave every 10 years or so.

Mine was a 1992 Chevy Beretta. 4 cylinder 2.2 Ltr OHV automatic transmission. I got it when I was 16. I had to sell because of the piston rings. It was a 70,000 mile throw away car. But I made it to 130,000 before I got fed up with dropping my whole paycheck into it every month to keep it running. Plus I didn
