Figure this could be a fun topic. Is there a time that everything came together in the right way that made you look or feel like a genius?
For me it might be when I bought a truck. A friend at another shop called me up and knew I was looking for a new truck. He had a customers truck there that was already at 2 other shops before him. “Can’t get this POS through the emission” That makes it as valuable as scrap metal. I went over, spent 5 minutes looking at it and knew what was wrong. It had a misfire that wouldn’t go away. Look under the hood and everything was new. Every sensor and tune up part was all replaced with top brand name stuff, or so they thought. Bought the 1990 GMC Sierra, it wasn’t old back then, for $300 delivered to my shop. Next day replaced the coil because it was only putting out a weak spark and the cylinders with the slightly higher compression were blowing out the spark like blowing out a candle. Almost passed the test. Replaced the cat that was damaged from the constant driving with a miss and it passed like it was new. Drove the piss out of it for a year and traded it even for a 94 Civic SI all done up with the fancy rims and all that crap.
The moral of the story,, it might have spark but is it a good spark, it might have fuel pressure but is it enough fuel pressure, ETC.
