I have a 1998 Jetta and I want to install a set of winter tires that are already mounted on rims from a 1991 Jetta. I looked up the specifications for the rims on my car and they are as follows; size: 14×6, bolt pattern: 4x100mm, offset: 45mm. The specifications for the older rims with the winter tires are exactly the same except for the offset, which is 38mm. What is offset and should I be concerned about it?
Thank you kindly,
Joey
