Complete and utter honest answer? You will be doing a lot of oil changes, air filters and cabin filters and not much else for awhile. Not sure your financial situation but expect $8.00 to $10.00 an hour, figure $9.00 on average.

+1 as well as finding it difficult to locate employment to start with due to the amount of technicians out of work due to all the dealership closures.

Don’t forget tires- tire mounting , tire balancing , tire rotatations and tire repairs. didn’t take me long to get “tired” of tires. LOL- especially mounting low profiles going onto 24″s ( so much fun ! )that said where ever you end up you should make friends with a seasoned tech there and help him or her anyway you can as this will help you advance by being able to do more then just the basics.

exactly what was stated above. However, I just started out not to long ago and the place I am at, you get everything from the gate. I got gaskets for everything, rack and pinions, rear main seals, and the tires, oil and alignments. It all depends where you end up at. Absolutely show a lot of respect and the other workers will be more willing the help and share advice. Most of them want to anyway. I would say practice as much tires as you can while still in your program. Get really good at low profiles. When a standard tire comes by, its like having your cake and eating it too.
