It’s been a long road and I thank those of you that have stuck with us through this transition and welcome those of you that are new to ETCG.com. Special thanks to Onyx for all his hard work on the site, he truly deserves the title “Webmaster”, so be sure to thank him for all of his hard work when you get the chance.
So this will be the place where you can open up about the new site. What do you like? What do you NOT like? What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see LESS of? What do you think about the new forum? So many questions as well as those that you might have so fire away I’d love to hear your feedback.

no problem, it was great to bring all of you a new site that works so much better than the old! I’m working on restoring the subjects here in the service and repair forum, the rest ill work on as time goes.
I’ve decided that I don’t really like the the automatic subscribe feature when I post. Don’t like all the email generated filling my inbox. I would rather just be able to subscribe to what I want to subscribe to rather than have to unsubscribe to everything I post to. Others may like this feature so I don’t want it changed and mess it up for them but is there a setting I could change to turn it off for me?

Here is another example of a few errors: This was originally a post within an existing thread. The new forum made it a separate thread, and cut off the contents of the message as well.
Also, as a suggestion…
Every forum I’ve joined usually has a SUBMIT and PREVIEW button at the bottom of the reply window to make sure everything looks good prior to making the post

Yeah that one is a glitch from merging 2 topics together. not much to be done there but is accurate who started it in the post.
As far as a preview button, this forum doesn’t have that, not sure if ill install one either at this point in time.

Its a Global option and if i turn it off it turns it off for everyone. Luckily I had a bookmark of it. The url was http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/topics.aspx?ID=431 So I’m guessing topic 431? 🙂
Oh and I agree with the option to opt-in to receive emails for every topic instead of opting-out. That’s going to be just one more thing for daily contributors to do before every post otherwise their email boxes will get stuffed every day. Seems silly that it would be on by default.

I don’t know what is being done now here but a lot of good material that was posted on the old site has disappeared and it appears that some of the new posts within the last few days has also gone missing.
non of the old posts were affected unless i had edited them and manually added them to the sited in the last 4 days. I’m working to fix the issue but it was a database issue. It is all fixed now but lost some data. I do apologize for this.
for some reason myetcg is not saving my stats I’ve reset them twice now, don’t know whats going on just letting u now when i get back from work ill try again
For some reason I”m having trouble finding some threads that I did replies to. I can think of at least two threads that seem to have vanished. One was on a ‘stripped bolt’, where a guy rounded a caliper mounting bolt, and the other I don’t remember the details.
I was hoping that the new system would allow a user to quickly chase down any thread he added a reply to, but that doesn’t seem to be always working. All the dropped threads happened a few days ago on the same day, as far as I can tell. Perhaps there was some IT work being done that day and some postings were lost?Eric being a long time ETCG fan and I have watched it grow from just repair video’s to this place where anyone can get car help. I am glad to see that you have grown into something larger than anyone has ever imagined.I’m very happy for you Eric.If anyone deserves to be rewarded for hard work it’s you.banana:
