what do these obd2 codes mean

I’m working on my 1996 firebird and its putting out 2 codes one is p0102(mass or volume air flow circuit low input) and the other is p1441( evap system flow during non-purge) what do these mean my car will from time to time will start sputtering but will go away as quick as it came. There’s a new tps and maf sensor and new fuel pump and it still does the sputtering. Thanks a million

The performance issue may be due to the MAF code. The first thing I would check for is any air leaks between the sensor and the engine itself, any air leaks here will offset the sensor readings. I have had some luck cleaning MAF sensors with carburetor cleaner so you might consider that however you may have to replace the sensor in the end.

The evap code is less critical because it involves a system on the engine that is designed to prevent gas fumes from leaving the vehicle when it’s parked, they store the fumes in a charcoal canister and when the engine is running they rout the fumes into the engine to be burned, this prevents the fumes from getting into the atmosphere and makes your car more efficient. This code may be more difficult to diagnose but you may be able to find the service procedure for your vehicle that will show how to test this. BTW this system doesn’t normally effect engine performance.
