I wired in a worklight and switch under the hood of my truck so that if I get stuck at night on the side of the road, I won’t have to hold a flashlight as I make any fixes. Share what you’ve done!

My truck is a 91, and its actually got a factory underhood light with a reel and cord. I have never used it, but I think an underhood light is useful.

January 7, 2015 at 5:02 am #651525Got in and drove around looking at pump prices at various gas stations. For 91 octane, the best they sell here, the price ranged from $2.59 to $2.04. It is like, with oil prices falling so fast, they are not quite sure where to price gas.
Now, I am going to put in some apostrophes to see what they turn into \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’
Interesting. Contractions are definitely out unless you like long words.
January 7, 2015 at 5:22 am #651529I took my wet driver’s side carpeted floor mat out and cleaned it off as best I could with a hose and degreaser and then dried it out all day. I’ve been tracking a lot of snow in the car that came around a couple days ago. Maybe I’ll see about some WeatherTech mats.
I also had some leftover roast pork and carrots in a Ziploc bag to eat for lunch, so I bungee corded the bag against my valve cover while running my pre-lunch errands to reheat it.

Haha that’s great, I’ve warmed a sandwich up over headers before…works like a charm.
January 9, 2015 at 6:22 am #651690Several years ago on the Evolutionm forum I asked owners to respond to the question – how long did your OEM radiator last? With that information I decided, rather that waiting until the thing popped, to preemptively replace it. The consensus of the forum was that I should expect 100k miles of service give or take. The vehicle now has 99,600 miles on it so I ordered a radiator, exactly the same one it came with new from Discount Radiators. Forty eight hours later UPS delivered it to my door.
So, I unboxed this brand new radiator without a mark on the core. Even new cars will have a mark or two on the fins. It was beautiful. I thought of putting on the shop heat and dropping it in but it is miserable cold here today and forecast to get colder, it did, so I put my lovely radiator against the wall in a spare bedroom where it would be safe. Seated in the living room I heard a loud noise. Investigation reveled a book, go figure, had decided to jump out of a bookcase and marked my radiator. This place is haunted. I guess it is my punishment for being lazy. Well, nothing is hurt except my feelings.

January 15, 2015 at 3:30 am #652474Put in a new clutch cable in my 88 accord. Shifts greatly improved and no more chattering going into 2nd gear 🙂
January 19, 2015 at 10:03 am #652963Blew the cigarette ashes out of my car. “Roll your owns” (using a hand-held injector) tend to put off a lot more ash than factory-rolled.
Topped off the leaking engine oil. It leaks about a quart every 3,000 miles. Seems to be getting worse though.
Obsessed about the coolant level. I think it has a real minute leak.
Stared at the leaking PS pressure hose for no reason, and topped off the PS fluid using Honda fluid.
Topped off the gas tank. Waited for the filler neck’s smaller line to quit leaking. This stupid Acura has all kinds of stupid leaks.
For the mercury cougar – jump started it and let it run for a while. It is “the car that sits” but I try to go out and give it a good run now and then. Put some more gas in it.
January 19, 2015 at 10:15 pm #652982Evo radiator went in Friday. Other than having to pull the turbo plumbing coming off the intercooler, easy job. I have the 50 cent version of Eric’s special funnel. It just happens to fit the radiator neck exactly and no leaks.
I love the way my Evo takes coolant. Fill it up, run the engine until the level drops, fill again and done. All the air comes out at once. So simple.
I finished this at 10:00 PM Friday evening. Saturday morning, much too early, road trip.
January 20, 2015 at 1:22 am #652994Cool cool, I reaimed my headlights today. I love sealed beams.
January 20, 2015 at 4:15 am #653007I cleaned the clutter from inside the passenger compartment next I need to figure out how to get oil out of leatherette. (VW fake Leather)

January 20, 2015 at 8:37 am #653042I got this floor dry recently, looks like fine white powder, sorta cottony. Supposed to remove oil x times better than regular floor dry. i would get some of that stuff and put in the leatherette and let it sit in a pile over night, I bet it will soak it up. Its not chemically at all, just really dry.
