This forum is started by suggestion from one of the forum members, SpawnedX. The idea behind it is to have a place where technicians can talk about their experiences and ideas concerning their careers and profession. Think of it as sort of an extension to ETCG1 were we talk about things that concern us and the automotive industry. This is for technicians only so please don’t post automotive questions here. If you are a technician welcome to this forum, if not please stay behind the yellow line. Perhaps we can start by introducing ourselves.
I’m Eric Cook aka EricTheCarGuy. I’ve worked as a professional technician since 1996 and have been an ASE master technician for the past 15 years. I worked for Acura at the dealer for about 8 years and spent the rest of my time working at aftermarket shops on both imports and domestics. I’m also an Acura certified master technician which I got as a result of my training at Acura. For a brief time I ran a Carx after I lost my job at Acura, that was interesting and challenging in many ways but I did work with some good people there and learned a lot about running an automotive business as a result of that experience. Now I have a successful auto repair show on the internet as well as a successful website and forum. To be honest my favorite job so far has been working as ETCG, it seems my entire career including my termination from Acura has led me to this place and I could not be happier with the result. I suppose that just goes to show you never know where you’re going to end up.

I’m Nick I’m 26 I got my start going to a Vocational High school. While still attending high school I started working in a small private shop when I was 17. Still currently working at the same shop. I’ve got my A4, A5, and A6 certifications. While i was still in high school I also took night classes for welding which has been helpful. I’m getting ready to take more Certification test. I live In North New Jersey.

I’ve got my A4, A5, and A6 certifications. While i was still in high school I also took night classes for welding which has been helpful. I’m getting ready to take more Certification test. Im Andrew, Im 23 I currently work for an engine re-manufacturer I am in charge of the warranty department, I repair, remove and install engines that come back with problems or defects, I am ASE Certified in Engine Repair since 2009 and have a well rounded work experience from automotive, heavy truck/diesel, to marine repair and industrial maintenance. I am hoping for a call back from a local manufacturing company to manage their fleet of about 40 pickups, semi tractors, trailers and pieces of small 2 and 4 stroke equipment as well as machinery/ production line repair, as it pays more with lots of overtime, lets just say upper management at the current job sucks and wanna get out or do installs for cash in my spare time.

I have experience with a little bit of everything. GM and Ford, to Honda, Subaru, old air cooled VW’s and a lot of stuff in between.

Started with cars in 1986 pumping gas. Been ASE certified since 1995 (i think). Bought my own shop in NJ back in 2001. Sold in 2007 and moved to NC. Working at a national chain now.

I’m Justin, 31 yrs old. Been working on my own stuff since 14 and went to school in 2008-2010. So I’ve only been doing it professionally for about three years.
