Hey everyone, A few days ago my car started to make this real weird sound that is kind of hard to explain. Its somewhere between a moan and a squeal? I opened the hood and followed the sound. I first thought it might be the power steering pump so I put my ear near that but it wasn’t coming from there. I followed it to the other side of my car and the sound is coming from the front driver side. It sounds like its coming from right underneath the air filter but as far as I know there is nothing under there that would make that sound. I took a video of it because I don’t really know how to explain the sound.

Also mebby check the air tube (it connects the air box to the throttle body) for cracks or holes etc, just for kicks.
I’m wondering where the ABS modulator is located on that vehicle. I’ve known similar noises to come from ABS modulators that are trying to maintain pressure due to a pressure leak somewhere in the system such as a leaking accumulator. Do you have an ABS light on? If so this might be worth looking into. To me it does not sound like anything ‘rotational’ on the front of the engine but rather an electric motor or something of that nature.
BTW I’m working with the webmaster on ways of uploading or showing videos directly on the site, look for that in the coming months.
No it would not. In that case I’d be looking for some other ‘motor’ that activates something to be honest I’m not sure what but I don’t think the air tube or anything on the front of the engine is at fault, I’d be looking for an emissions component or something of that nature, you may have to remove things or look underneath to find the source.
So A quick update! Found out what that sound was.
The other day I started my car and it made the sound then stopped and I thought thats odd then the check engine light kicked on.
pulled the code it was P1451 Which is EVAP Control System Canister Vent Solenoid Circuit MalfunctionSo thats what the sound was.
