Well first a brief history of the truck…
I purchased when my last truck died ): needed a vehicle for work, as a tent delivery guy..
had 86k when purchased two years ago.. now has just under 260k.. work was hard on my truck pulling enclosed 30ft trailers way too heavy way too far… I was on top of mantinace oil every 3k air filter every other.
trans at 120k, then it happened.. at 220k the transmission went , was an e40… replaced with a “remanufactured” e60 it grenaded the next week.. I got my money back and converted the truck to a nv3500 manual in my drive way overnight… had some small hiccups like the park sensor not alowing the starter to engage. so I removed the sensor and bolted to the frame in perminant neutral so the truck runs great!!

Now the problem… a weird idle, more of a triple identity issue.. most of the time the truck runs and drives flawlessly. lets say 60% of the time

20% of the time it will randomley idle at 2000rpms or more, if you tap the throttle (thought was stuck) will idle even higher and stay there till put to load then it returns to normal.

10% the worst… will idle up and down 700 rpms to 3500.. more extreme untill I correct with a strong fot to the wood or it stalls out???

      any ideas???

it doesnt affect driveability ,its just annoying… especially in the drive through

” can I take your order?” (“vroom, squee, vroom, squee, varrooomm…) ” sir can shut of your engine??

or pull up to the red light at 3500 rpms… with a cut off exaust EVERYONE notices…

any suggestions?? Ive already tried a smoke test for intack manifold/ vacume leaks..none
I replace my throttle sensor with a napa replacement…

      what next??

      thanks for your advise!! (:

Make sure you check the throttle body shaft for egging, which in turn will cause sticking. Throttle plates like to come loose too… smoke test is a good choice for leaks but the intake manafold gasket can slip.. The best way to prove this out is to block off the pcv valve and feel for vacuum on the fresh air side of the system ( the second hose that goes back to the air cleaner box.. If there is vacuum there the manafold gasket slipped… Good luck, Keith
