Water pump leak

At the back side of the engine on the side of the timing belt plastic cover I see a hole with a very slow single drip leaking of coolant while I have the radiator pressurized with a rented tool. I assume the water pump has gone and this is the weep hole in the pump that exits out through the plastic cover. Am I correct?

I plan on buying the complete kit – pump belts pulleys tensioner etc this weekend. At one point at least a year ago I had downloaded a complete video of the belt/water pump replacement on this website – I assume its still here – can someone point me to it?

      Thanks,

      Milty

See attachment – a circle is drawn around the area I spotted a very slow drip of coolant

Just type 98 accord timing belt replacement into YouTube’s search bar and you’ll find a few videos for it.

Ok. Thanks. I was also seeking a second opinion on the leak location – looking at the picture again its not leaking out of the plastic cover but the metal housing that I assume surrounds the water pump. Is it reasonable to assume the leak is coming from the pump. Any thoughts?

i’m hoping its not a head gasket leak finding its way down to that hole.

          Thanks,

          Milty

I studied the photo and researched the water pump on the web and I believe the hole I see is indeed the weep hole

to make your life a lot easyer… some water pumps has bolts on the pully… use a rubber weched to hold the pully and then you can loosen the bolts…. unfuttionly you cant really tell but the water pump is a common problem… also I woulld replace your thermistat too because its sometimes common to go bad with the water pump… you might as whell.. do it too becuase your draining the coolent system.. is my thoughts
