      Hey forum,

So here i am. Rain season is here in the PNW and my Sidekick is a lake (only on drivers side).

      The vehicle:

      1993 Suzuki Sidekick 2 door 4×4 8 Valve 1.6L Inline 4. 2 piece hard top brand new

So after a rainy night being at home. Next morning i have all the rain that fell in my cab. (about 1/4″ of rain on the drivers side) Passenger side is dry. Now I’ve read a similar problem with the 2000 olds on here. (window seal failure / rusted window seat) Could this really be the cause of all this water? Its pretty substantial amount of water.

I’ve reseated the 2 piece hard top twice and checked seals in the last week. The back isn’t getting wet by any means. Also to note there is no A/C in this vehicle.

      Thanks for your input.

Yeah it’s probably the windshield leaking. Luckily it shouldn’t cost much to get it resealed. I would not recommend trying to do this yourself cause if the windshield cracks (which is easy to do) you will have to pay to replace it. If you take it to a shop and it cracks they will have to replace it. Also if a shop does it they usually warranty it.

I tried many times to fix my windshield leak on an 89 Buick. No luck with external means like RTV etc. Just applied some peel and stick aluminum tape from the home store for a temporary fix. If you want it fixed properly the windshield will need to be removed and replaced if that is what is leaking.

In addition to inspecting the window for leaks, I would check the door seals and the firewall for any places where water can get through.

Thanks for all the reply’s. Ill have to shop around for a quote from a shop. I also have to figure out how to re seat a door properly. Passenger side door doesn’t seal completely.

Why not just try to find the leak yourself, it will save you some money and it could be something you can fix, take a garden hose and lay it on the foor and turn it on and see if you can’t find where the water is entering from. This is basically how we fine leaks at the dealership I worked at

Hey There; Had the same problem a couple weeks ago with my mothers 2000 buick century. My problem was the weather strip the runs right above the cabin filter. There was a bunch of pine needles in the gutters right under the windscheild area. cleaned the gutters out and cocked the weather strip. These solved my problem. Hope it helps you.

+1 on a windshield leak. I don’t advise trying to fix it yourself as it normally requires removal of the windshield. That said you can verify the leak by running a garden hose in the suspected area while you have someone look for the leak inside the vehicle.
