I live in Houston and in my car when I run the air for a couple of hours the passenger side is all wet. The A/C runs great, but I finally had to take the carpet out and I keep a shammy to soak up the water.

It’s probably just a clogged AC drain under the evaporator core, causing water to run back inside the vehicle. Often you can solve this with a garden hose. From the engine siide, run some water into the ac drain with the hose. This will usually dislodge whatever is clogging the drain. See if this works. Sometimes a little compressed air will do the same thing.

The last time I unplugged the A/C drain I used a piece of wire. Don’t be wedged under the car like I was and get soaked by stinky water.

Most A/C drains have a 90 degree bend in them so compressed air (low pressure) would be a better choice. Water will work but will probably flood your car again.

I’m with barneyb on this one. The last time I cleaned a drain out, I found a piece of candy wrapper blocking the drain. If it’s not out of reach, pull the drain tube off the car and then give it a look over & reinstall it after the case drains out.

pray it’s just that because if not, the only other thing could be a bad heater core

Or a leaky windshield. The trouble is, leaks are where you find them and they don’t like to be found.

I don’t recommend using a wire, you can damage the tubing. Compressed air is the way to go.

so I was finally able to try this, I was eagerly anticipating the water works that I saw on the video as confirmation of a clogged drainage hose, no such luck. I used air first, then the water hose I was able to find a leak coming from behind a rubber “gasket” at the firewall.

So is it fixed now or do you still have a leak?

It may be a little difficult to determine now, given the weather in your area. The less humidity in the air, the less moisture will be removed from the system…meaning you may not have as much in the drain system as the summer months. I know it’s probably still warm in Houston like it is here. However the humidity is much less now, thus much less water coming out of AC drain. I hope you can get this sorted out before next sumner…

Wouldn’t a vacuum sucking be better off instead of blowing air in? Sucking whatever that’s causing the choke might clear the pathway as well right? I have this issue of wet floorboard as well. Just seeking your opinion.

Sure, that wouldn’t hurt a thing to try that.
