VW Polo 2012 alternator??

I’m sort of new to all this with the forum Etc so bare with me, i recently bought VW Polo year 2012 and only just realised that every time i turn the steering wheel the headlights go dim, I then checked other things inside the car that would use power so i used the electric windows and that also made them dim but only for a second or so. I checked the battery voltage and everything seems fine, another thing i should mention is that i don’t seem to have this problem when i am travelling at higher speeds. I have read that it could be a problem with the alternator but i’m not really sure how to diagnose that.
