      Hello Ericthecarguy forum,

Once again i am back with a question, and i hope some one will be able to help me.
My car is making a squeaking noise on cold start up, this problem has started when the weather got colder.
I opened the hood and the noise is coming from the side of the engine where the drive belts are. The drive belt, water pump and idler pulleys have been replaced 6 months ago.

The weird thing is that it is only making noise around 1100 rpm, if i rev the engine the sound stops.
The noise is gone after a few seconds of driving.

Could this be the accessory drive belt or should i be looking for other things?

      Any help is much appreciated

      Thanks

      Ralf,

Since the noise goes away when warm a pulley/ something with a bearing.
Try using a mechanics stethoscope to try and pin point.

Seen quite a few on a cold start that the alternator is under a heavy load after a start and will squeal or the belt will squeal until the alternator kind of catches up to the load.

thanks for your responses. the noise is gone again since the temperature had gone up.
I am going to get the car checked next week to see if it is worth repairing or if i should stop sinking money into it.

Lets hope there will be no further problems!

Today my car has been checked by a mechanic, and it is better than i though it would be.
There are no real problems only some small things like brake lines that are starting to rust.(witch i will address)
The noise is gone now, most likely a belt.

For know i will just keep on driving.
