Ive actually had a few Volvo’s, a 85 760T and a 90 244DL. And i loved them, not to mention i wish i never got rid of them.
I have to say, after owning ford, mazda, chevy, dodge, plymouth, mitsubishi, mercury, cadillac, gmc and then purchasing a 2004 Volvo XC90 for my wife, I will never buy her anything but Volvo. The fit, finish and quality is uncomparable to the other cars I have owned. The only downside, everything is electronic. If I ever need to adjust my heated seat temperatures to changing out the battery, there is always something that needs to be calibrated or confirmed with VADIS/VODIS.
As for myself, I will continue to buy me the dodge/chevy/ford vehicles that I want to wrench on, but when it comes to reliability and safety, I have been 100% sold on Volvo. But then again, I have not owned this XC90 for very long, so I will give my opinion in another couple of years 🙂
In the end, I think it comes down to what makes you feel good when you walk out to your garage and see that vehicle sitting there. If it is something you have faith in and never hate to work on, then the maker is really not that important.

Thanks for your responds! I totally agree of how it comes downs to the feel for the brand of your car and how much money and work you can put up to.
But, I once bought an Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser -71 -was on holiday in San Diego- for a few dollars. If I remember correctly, I bought it for 200 dollars (1989), and it ran like crap. After some minor adjustments it really improved and went on at least 7 of 8 cylinders. The repair cost me 0 dollars since me and my friends did it on our own. But at the time it felt as if I wan a huge lotto price! I and couple of friends went on seven days holiday with the car to Baja California and the car worked just fine under the whole trip. After passing the boarder to US it started to give us some problems, but it brought us back to San Diego OK.
At that time I was just 20 years old and had not really driven any “american” cars before and I remember that I was mighty impressed of the power of the 8 cylinder engine (all though it was just running on 7 cylinders), the power steering and power brakes and the comfort of such an old car.
This car did not cost me a lot of money but gave me some unforgetable moments, and therefore that car and brand is special for me. (Sorry for my crappy english)

Over here in the United States, an Volvo XC90 will cost between $40,000 to $50,000 US Dollars.
What does a new one cost in your country?
Also, what do you see them sell for used?
