Check out the other channel of Erics – ETCG1 as he talks about ‘sour’ technicians.

I would not loose your enthusiasm for the industry as no matter where you work, you will find those type of people.

This post may be better in the ‘General’ section as this section is for ETCG universe and website suggestions C8-)

I’m very sorry to hear about your experience and unfortunately it seems something that’s all too common, in fact I’ve run into a bit of that myself in my own career especially when I started out. That in itself should tell you something which would be don’t loose heart as there are a lot of people on this forum including myself that believe in you and your career. Sometimes the ‘older techs’ get a bit salty when they see the enthusiasm of someone like yourself up and coming in the field and for whatever reason they feel threatened by it and feel the need to bring you down, they are wrong to do so.

My suggestion is to focus on your abilities and what you CAN do not what others say you can’t, at the end of the day you will win out but not to prove anything to anyone else but to yourself. You don’t need to answer to anyone and if others try to bring you down don’t listen because in the grand scheme of your career it’s really just one more ahole you’re going to leave behind on your way to a successful career.

Thank you for joining the forum and thank you for sharing your experience. Know that I’m behind you and want you to do well.

I agree, some of the older mechanics and employees are sometimes reluctant to help younger hires, not because of any real attitude problmes, but the issue stems from job security.

If someone is making top wage and possibly showing some age they are hesitant to show a rookie the ropes when it could possibly mean their job is on the line.

Basically just hang in there. For every “salty” tech there are 2 more that are more than willing to show the ropes.
