Video request: CV Axles rebuild or replace

I saw your video on rebuilding a CV axle and in that video you mentioned that it is inexpensive to purchase them so one may want to do that instead of taking the time to rebuild them.

There are so many different brands of new CV axles available most of them remanufactured. How do you choose which one is the best price value versus rebuilding your own?

I have to imagine that in some cases a rebuild original equipment CV axle – assuming the bearings are not contaminated – is better than some of the CV axles sold as remanufactured. How do you evaluate and decide what to do?

It’s true that some reman axles are of poor quality. It’s best to look for name brand parts over the ‘white box’ type with no country of origin listed. That said, I’m of the opinion replacement is often better than rebuilding as the parts are more difficult to come by than purchasing an entire reman axle.
