      FORD E 250 2006 5.4 L V8 155,000 KM

      Hey ! ETCG COMMUNITY

When I start my vehicle I feel a vibration coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle actually shakes slightly. This occurs when it in idle but seems to be reduced when I go over 50 km/h. Please let me know what I should check to solve the problem.

P.S There are times when I put the vehicle into gear and these is a slight hesitation as well as one day I smelled something burning when I got out of it.

      Thanks in advance !

If you can say that the engine’s running rough in place of vehicle shaking, you’ve probably got a bad coil by now and I’m betting the van is due for spark plugs if you’ve never changed them. Even if you don’t have a check engine light on, get the codes pulled and you’ll probably wind up with a P0301 through P0308 code.

Thanks for the response ! I am going to make those checks. I have never changed the Spark Plugs Ever. I will get a scanner to look up any possible trouble codes.

I had a similar problem…turned out to be a warped brake disk. The brake pads were dragging on the disk, so I smelled something burning when I got out of the car also. When I touched all four wheels, it was easy to tell which one it was….lol

When you said 50 km/h I thought you meant under way, but you also said idle, and of course that couldn’t be brakes.

On the other hand, my car front end shakes when I go to neutral and roll to a stop at idle. That was caused by brakes.

Thanks for the response. I have just realized that the OBD 2 connector for my vehicle does not work when I tried to have it scanned for the trouble. The guy at the parts store told me his Dad had the same problem with his 01 Chevy Van. He said that I should try doing a tune up. Change out the spark plugs, wires and fuel filter and see what happens.

If you can’t scan your van chances are that there is a blown fuse somewhere. Usually for the power point socket. Pin #16 on the diagnostic connector should have battery voltage.

Have you checked your motor mounts?

I looked into symptoms of Motor Mount Failure. However I didn’t notice anything like that. It’s not like the Engine is moving up and down like some of the videos I have seen.
