vechicle shakes at stops

I have 97 eclipse that shakes when I come to a stop or red light, I was told that it could be the engine mounts. Is that true.. THANKS

If the engine just shakes then its probably a motor mount, but if the engine is running rough it could be something else like a performance issue.

I NEVER go for motor mounts first in a situation like this. If the engine is running rough then replacing the engine mounts won’t do any good. Go ahead and inspect the mounts for cracks or damage but take some time to see if you have a performance issue with the engine first.

hey thanks guys I recently replaced the spark plugs and cable, fuel filter, and cleaned the throttle body which in fact made a big difference in terms of performance issue. has a better throttle response. But the car still shakes when at stop or red lights.. motors mounts are very bad though…
