Hey guys, I replaced the head gasket on a 2000 town and country 3.3L chrysler engine. I am currently reinstalling the intake manifold. My question is since I already put the heads and rocker on is it absolutly

i dont believe you have to unless they are leaking i wouldn’t worry to much about it if they start to leak you will just have to take it apart its all good

Thanks, I am still a rookie at this, but if it ain’t broke I don’t want to break it.

If there is no evidence of leakage, i wouldn’t change them either. I would put those seals in a parts box.

If it wasn’t burning oil then you should be OK.

Just for future reference you can usually replace them without taking the heads off. There’s a spark plug adapter that connects to your compressor which allows you to pressurize the cylinder to hold the valves closed while you remove the rocker arm, keepers, and swap out the seals.

I agree if you don’t have excessive oil consumption that you know is coming from the cylinder heads then I would not worry about replacing them, you can however replace them in the car in fact here is a video about it that my friend Duane did.

Thanks for all the input guys, next time around I will go ahead and replace them. For now they are going into the parts box.
