Hello guys. I have a problem with a ’96 Hyundai Accent 1.4l petrol which has done 260.000 km and it’s burning a lot of oil ( 1L per 1000 km) especially after i start the engine. I have done the compression test today and the results would look something like this: Dry test – 14,1 (1); 13(2); 13,5(3); 13,6(4), Wet test where i poured 2,5 ml of oil in each cylinder – 15(1); 14,1(1); 14,2(3); 14,1(4) and second wet test where i put 7,5 ml of oil the pressure was 16,1 in all cylinders. I am incline to think the valve seals are worn out, but i am also taking in consideration the rings. What do you think? Thanks in advanced.

since the wet test got better. I would suggest rings.

based on the info you provided I would say worn rings. a leak down test woul also be a good idea.

The only sure way to know is a leak down tester.

thank you guys for your advices. then, i’ll try to run a leak down test, i hope it won’t be necessary to replace the rings too. thanks again 🙂
