      Model Year-2002
      -Make/Brand- Honda Odessey
      -Complete Model EX-L
      -Engine/Transmission/FWD/ v6 3.5
-Country (market) the car was sold in- USA

188,000 miles now running well but mileage is poor (average 15 down from 19) Loud tick in upper front valve area sent van to dealer to do valves twice- neither took out loud tick. I checked all plugs (80,000 on them)- they looked good, but needed to be regapped. Pulled each coil pack wire set individually to listen for change to rpm. #5 changed the RPM the least. I let engine cool overnight, started again and pulled coil pack wires individually again. When #5 wire pulled the tick stopped. Plugged it back in and tick came back immediately. All fuel injectors sounded like they were working through stethascope. Please advise me on the next step.

I would pull the vehicle in a dark garage or wait until dark and start the car (with no light at all around) and check to see if the #5 wire is arking because that’s what it sounds like. Another option would be to swap the #5 wire and another wire lets say the #1. Start the car and pull the now #1 wire and if it goes away you would need to replace your plug wires.

There are no plug wires! just coil packs and wiring like you see at the injectors. I’ll still do as you suggest and look for errant arcing, thanks.

No obvious electrical leals in the black of a night inspection. Any other suggestions?

Did you try swapping the coil pack with another cylinder?

Does it sound like this: Honda 3.5 Knock? You said tick not knock, but just wanted to check. People describe things differently. Wrist pin knock and piston slap can both go away if the plug wire is pulled, that plus your mileage is what made me wonder.
