Hello all! I have a 99 ranger 2wd 2.5L 170, 000 miles. Theres a performance issue I believe. Plugs are good, fuel pressure good, injectors clean and maintenance has been kept well. There is a hesitation at 55-60 mph. When I try playing with the gas pedal when it does this it seems to have no effect. It does level out after a couple jogs of hesitating. I hooked up the vacuum gauge and at idle it bounces very fast and steady from 18-21. I slap the throttle open and it droos to zero then back up to the initial reading. At 200 rpm therapidly fluctuating needle is from about 14-22 and more bouncy or irregular if that makes sense. I do have a small exhaust leak fyi. Used water and carb cleaner (very carefully) and found no vacuum leak. Ignition timing cannot be adjusted and it has a new timing belt. Thanks for any input.
